Prince Stash Klossowski de Rola is a man apart….and yet intimately intertwined. Stash is an adventurer, explorer, connoisseur, educator, musician, actor, aristocrat … and is the son of the famed French artist Balthus. Stash knew, befriended, loved and collaborated with a huge range of cultural icons. 

He performed and worked with various bands including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Vince Taylor & The Playboys, during the Swinging Sixties in London, Rome, Paris, and Los Angeles.

Made infamous for his arrest with The Rolling Stones founder, Brian Jones, his engagement to Italian superstar, Romina Power, and for being a fashion icon launching the New Romatic look that was all the rage in the ‘70s, Prince Stash comes from a line of scandalous and very colorful figures in his ancestry.

Prince Stash currently spends his time between his Italian castle, Californian beach house, and other exotic international locations.

I met the Prince for the first time when my dear friends Carla and Leigh J. McCloskey brought him to my birthday party last week. He has a striking and charismatic presence, and resembles a turbaned alchemist time traveler from another era. Obviously a man of great intelligence and culture, he was ever the charming, courtly European gentleman. Indeed, the Prince is one of the most fascinating and intriguing persons whom I ever had the pleasure of meeting. 

To talk about Stash Klossowski de Rola—known to many as Prince Stash—is to try and describe the indescribable. He’s not just a person; he’s an experience, a living tapestry of charisma, intellect, and boundless curiosity. Stash is truly one of the most extraordinary individuals I’ve ever encountered, and words will always fall short of fully capturing his essence.

He’s a larger-than-life figure, a modern-day renaissance man who seems to have lived a thousand lives, each more fascinating than the last. There’s an air of mystery about him that’s magnetic, drawing people in with his presence and leaving them captivated long after he’s gone. His life feels like a grand novel—one filled with adventures, intrigue, and encounters with some of the most remarkable people and moments in history.

Stash’s appearance alone stops people in their tracks. Strikingly handsome, he exudes an effortless charm with his strong jawline, piercing eyes, and that wizard-like beard, which gives him the look of someone who could step seamlessly into both a medieval court or a rock concert. His wardrobe is a reflection of his eclectic personality—part medieval knight, part 1960s rock star, as if he’s borrowed the finest pieces from Austin Powers’ closet and paired them with treasures from a long-forgotten era.

Adding to his legend is the fact that Stash resides in an extraordinary 1,200-year-old castle north of Rome. This place is more than a home; it’s a living, breathing piece of history, and Stash is its devoted steward. He has a profound love for this castle and a deep passion for preserving its stories, traditions, and legacy. In many ways, he has become a living historian, embodying and safeguarding everything the castle represents. To spend time there with him is to step into another world, one where the past and present blend seamlessly and history comes alive in the most vivid and magical way.

I love this man more than words can convey.
